Fly in Power 2: A Community Vigil
Red Canary Song invites community members and allies to a vigil honoring 8 lives lost 2 years ago in the Atlanta spa shootings.

Fly In Power Documentary Film Screening
Red Canary Song is excited to announce the screening of Fly In Power, a documentary by RCS members Yin Q and Yoon Grace Ra. Please join us at Flushing Town Hall Theater on March 9 from 7-9:30 for this film’s premiere.
Click here to RSVP. Tickets are donation based. Pay what you can—all proceeds go towards the production of the film and supporting Charlotte.
Fly in Power follows Charlotte, a Korean massage worker and core organizer of Red Canary Song. Through her story, we learn how the incarceration system is pitted against Asian migrant women and their survival. Other RCS members, including Khokhoi, a young body worker, and Prof Elena Shih, Brown University, share powerful insights that debunk the myths of sex trafficking. Fly in Power is a glimpse into the intimate spaces that not only connect these workers, but is also a testament to the global advocacy of women's rights to work and thrive. This is the first film to center the narrative of an Asian massage worker in her own words, with her own agency of storytelling and editing. The intention of Fly in Power is to honor their practices of care, autonomy, and survival and to raise awareness of the oppressive systems that face us all.

8LIVES VIGIL
Gathering in remembrance of the eight lives lost just one year ago in the tragic Atlanta spa shootings.

Vigil for 8 lives lost
With heavy hearts, we call our community together to mourn the eight lives lost during the shooting on Tuesday night in Atlanta. As we pay honor to the individual victims and send our support to the survivors, it is undeniable that this was a targeted violence against Asian Women Massage Workers.

Communi-tea Vigil for Yang Song
We are gathering digitally for a tea vigil to honor the life of Yang Song, who passed away in 2017 after a police raid at the massage parlor where she worked. Together, we will be remembering her, communing together, and imagining a world beyond criminalization.

Sex Worker Art Pop Up
Members of Red Canary Song staged an installation as part of the Sex Workers Pop Up Art Show, a free exhibit featuring artwork and performances by and about sex workers from around the world. This installation bridged Red Canary Song’s history in street-based organizing and its vision for the future.
C2C
In March 2020, Red Canary Song gathered with Chinatown tenant organizer groups from LA, Toronto, Seattle, Philly, Calgary and more through Coast to Coast Chinatown to explore the intersectional organizing of sex workers in Chinatown and how their workplaces and homes were impacted by gentrification. Together, we shared strategies for mobilization as workers and renters to connect common battles against new jails and luxury developments.
Organizing Migrant Asian Sex Workers Across Oceans
Red Canary Song members Yin Q , KK de la Vida, and Kate Zen with Brown University Professor Elena Shih, Migrant Sex Workers Project’s Chanelle Gallant, and Butterfly’s Elene Lam speak on panel From Criminalization to Liberation: Organizing Migrant Asian Sex Workers Across Oceans, introduced by Mae Ngai.
